My natural inclination to help and teach people to achieve their health and athletic goals through improved fitness and better movement has motivated me to a lifelong study of this process.
A bachelors and masters of science in Physical Education, a doctorate in Human Movement, and four years as a US Ski Team conditioning coach have provided me with a wide-ranging and comprehensive background. More than 15 years of working with Dr. Igor Burdenko has given me the extensive experience with water-based exercise that I now bring to Swymfit.
I am proud to offer the Swymfit water-based workout programs, designed over the last 12 years for a wide range of health and fitness goals. Whether you wish to improve your general fitness, recover from injury or illness, or prepare for athletic competition, you will benefit from the Swymfit approach.
Sean Michael French
Director of Aquatics & Exercise
Swymfit's Aquatics Director, Sean Michael French, received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Montclair State University. He graduated with Advanced Standing with a dual certification in Exercise Science and Health & Physical Education.
Throughout his 24-year swimming career, Sean has been both a competitive swimmer, and a coach. His passion for omni-directional movement started as a child when he was enveloped by the swimming community. As an athlete, he qualified for USA Senior Nationals and was an undefeated dual-meet competitor in the 50-yard Freestyle for all four years of his high school career. His success continued through college where he was a top ranking swimmer in 9 events for the Montclair State Swim Team.
As a coach, Sean has trained over 1,000 youth and adult athletes. He has developed a spectrum of movement programs including programs for individuals with special needs to programs for recreational, competitive and elite level athletes both in the water and on land. His understanding of the human body came from the diverse set of skills he acquired from Swimming, Yoga, Martial Arts, Primal Flow and Meditation. Sean has experience working as an Exercise Scientist, Postural Alignment Specialist, Exercise Therapist, Teacher and Coach.
During his downtime you can expect him to be playing music for his wife and son or exploring the wilderness in various ways such as hiking, climbing, snowboarding and white water rafting.
