Class Description
This level is for swimmers who are comfortable going underwater and learning the fundamentals of swimming but cannot swim independently.
Requirements to join level
Must be able to:
- Sit independently without parent or guardian in the water
- Listen and follow directions
- Willing to put their face in the water on command
- Swim independently with the noodle / floatation
Focus: Body Position and Air Recovery
Learning Objectives
- Ask permission to get in the water
- Bob 5 times exchanging air
- Kick on back with flotation for 10 feet
- Kick on front with flotation for 10 feet
- Front float independently for 5 seconds
- Back float independently for 5 seconds
- Front glide with kick for 5 feet
- Reach and pull arm movements for 5 feet (Reach and Pull)
- Elementary backstroke for 10 feet (only arm pull is necessary)
- Enter water by jumping from the side of the pool
- Tread water for 10 seconds
